Do you smell that?

Steve and I were in the office doing some late night reading/blogging on the computers and Steve asks if I smell something burning. We look around the office and don't know what would be burning and so we go back to our computers. But the smell doesn't go away and seems to be getting stronger. Steve leaves the office and the smell is stronger in the hallway. Steve looks downstairs and I go to the kids' rooms. I start in the boy's room and check their fans and they are both shut off. I go over to the girls' room and the smell is very strong! I go over to Katie's bed and we find the little light from inside her Cinderlla lamp was between her two pillows and it was turned on! It had burned through the pillow case and into the bottom of the top pillow and was burning down into the bottom pillow. Oh my, did it smell in there. The tag on the pillow had melted also. Steve got some water and we poured it onto the pillows to be sure we had stopped any burning. We are both so glad we were up late. It is scary to think what would have happened if we were responsible and went to bed at a respectable hour. The kids had been in bed 2 and 1/2 hours when we found this. Wow! I don't want to think about what could have happened.

The girls are woken-up while this is going on and I come back with my camera and Kristina tells Katie "Mom's going to blog this you know!"

oh my goodness- scary! Do you know a similar thing happened to us, INSIDE our U-Haul when we moved here?? The light inside the truck stayed on and burned right through our couch!

Very scary Jeni! It really makes my tummy turn over to think what really would have happened! You are definitely being watched over!
